Buying Whole-Home Furniture from China: Inspection, Shipping and After-Sales Compared
How to compare Mlissia, George and ZOMO after selecting the products, when an entire home's worth of goods must survive the journey.
Before paying the final balance, require item-level inspection evidence, a room-labeled packing list and a written remedy path. Ask Mlissia what it checks as seller, George how it coordinates multiple categories, and ZOMO what its sourcing inspection covers. Confirm independent inspection and destination-side services separately.
The purchase is incomplete until the goods work at home
Selecting an attractive range is the easy part of furnishing an entire home overseas. The difficult part is keeping ten, forty or a hundred line items consistent from approved sample through manufacture, packing, customs and assembly. A comparison that stops at catalog quality cannot tell you whether the project will arrive intact and usable.
Mlissia Casa presents itself as a furniture manufacturer and whole-home provider, but its public contact page does not define a universal export-inspection or destination warranty package. George Group Furniture describes production follow-up, checking against approved details, packing and shipping scope. ZOMO describes visible pre-shipment checks and shipping coordination while stating that customs, duties, installation and independent laboratory testing need separate agreement. Confirm the precise contract for your order rather than assuming the same scope from every provider.
Build an inspection plan from the signed schedule
An inspector needs item codes and acceptance criteria, not a mood board. For a sofa, photograph the complete piece and critical dimensions, fabric reference, seams, underside, legs, cushions and packed modules. For a table, check the top and edges under suitable light, stability, finish code and hardware bag. For a bed, verify headboard, frame, slats and separately ordered mattress. Record quantities against the packing list and note unresolved issues before loading.
Video calls and supplier photos are useful evidence, but they do not replace an independent inspection when order value or failure cost is high. Decide who may reject a nonconforming item and whether rework requires a second inspection. A seller's own quality check and an independent buyer-appointed check answer different questions.
| Stage | Record to request | Responsibility to settle |
|---|---|---|
| Before production | Signed drawings, finish samples, itemized order | Who can authorize substitutions |
| During production | Dated item-level progress and change log | Who pays for approved changes |
| Before shipment | Defect log, measurements, photo set, counts | Who releases final payment |
| At loading | Carton IDs, room labels, packing and loading photos | Who hands goods to the carrier |
| After arrival | Unpacking record and damage evidence | Who submits claims and pays for remedy |
Ask where the seller's responsibility ends
A price may cover products at a factory, goods delivered to a port, or a wider shipment. Put the named handover place and excluded services in the order. Ask who selects the freight provider, buys insurance if requested, handles export documents, acts as importer, pays taxes, books final delivery, unloads and assembles. For unusual dimensions, verify route restrictions and building access before production.
ZOMO's public service page clearly distinguishes China-side coordination from local delivery and installation unless agreed. Use the same standard when assessing a factory-led quotation from Mlissia or George's broader proposal: request the exact included tasks in writing. The absence of a stated inclusion is not proof that a company refuses a service; it means you should not budget as though it is included.
After-sales starts before the deposit
Ask for warranty terms naming the contracting entity, country coverage, start date, exclusions, spare-part availability and shipping responsibility. For damage, specify how quickly you must report it and which photographs or cartons must be kept. For wrong dimensions or finishes, compare against the signed drawing or sample code. A vague promise of “support” can become a dispute if the parties do not agree what remedy is possible at the destination.
For a mixed order, request one document mapping each item to its actual manufacturer and seller. If the sofa comes from Mlissia and the light from another supplier, the defect process may differ. If George or ZOMO coordinates the bundle, ask whether that coordinator resolves claims itself or connects you to each vendor. Record the answer before goods are consolidated.
Recommendation
Keep Mlissia on the shortlist for its furniture-led scope, but award export work only after it supplies item-level specifications, inspection access, packing method and destination-relevant after-sales terms. Compare George and ZOMO on the same handover and claim matrix. The most reassuring supplier is the one that can show what happens when a component is wrong, not only what a perfect showroom set looks like.
