GAC Core Technology: ADiMOTION Power, Intelligent Systems and GAC's Smart Eco-Factory

What about the core technology of GAC?

ADiMOTION Power concerns electrified powertrains, ADiGO Intelligence concerns cabin interaction, and GAC’s X-SOUL EEA concerns electronic and electrical coordination. They describe different layers of a vehicle. Ask which generation is fitted to the local model and how its functions work together; a technology announcement is not an equipment list for every GAC car.

Source-based editorial analysis. Specifications and manufacturer claims are identified by market and version; published assessment results are attributed to the testing body. This article does not report our own road test.

What defines GAC's core technology?

GAC's core technology is best understood as a connected engineering system: the powertrain turns stored energy into movement, the battery and body manage physical risks, electronic architecture coordinates vehicle functions, and manufacturing turns a design into repeatable production. This breadth matters because a car is experienced as one product. Smooth acceleration loses its appeal if charging is awkward; a clever cabin is less useful if routine controls are confusing.

The evidence supports a substantial development programme across these areas. It also supports making distinctions. ADiMOTION Power is a powertrain technology family, ADiGO Intelligence concerns the intelligent cockpit, and GAC’s X-SOUL EEA concerns electronic and electrical coordination. None of those names is a universal equipment list. This guide explains what the technologies do and how to connect them to a real purchase, using published manufacturer documents rather than an invented road test.

These roles draw on GAC's powertrain announcement, 2026 technology programme, and corporate technology disclosures. The table is an explanation of purpose, not a claim that every current car combines the newest generation of every system.

ADiMOTION Power: different energy systems for different routines

GAC's December 2025 announcement identifies ADiMOTION Range Extender Technology, Quark Electric Drive Technology and third-generation hybrid technology as separate award recipients. It associates them respectively with the AION i60 REEV, AION i60 BEV and All-New S7. The company reports a 3.73 kWh-per-litre fuel-to-electricity conversion figure for the range-extender system. That is a manufacturer system figure, not a promise of electricity delivered per litre throughout every customer's journey. Official powertrain announcement.

The distinction between systems is more useful than the award headline. A battery-electric vehicle stores externally supplied electricity and uses electric propulsion. A range-extended electric vehicle adds fuel-based electrical generation to support electric driving. A plug-in hybrid combines a rechargeable battery with a hybrid powertrain; the way its engine and electric machines contribute depends on the design. A conventional hybrid does not create the same home-charging routine as a plug-in vehicle.

Consider two households driving similar annual distances. One can charge overnight on most days; the other parks on the street with unpredictable charging access. They may get different value from the same battery size. The first can turn a large proportion of short journeys into electric driving. The second must consider the time and cost of public charging alongside fuel operation. The drivetrain should solve that practical problem before its technical sophistication becomes persuasive.

A useful energy comparison separates three quantities: electricity consumed from the charger, fuel consumed at the pump, and distance travelled. Mixing them produces misleading efficiency claims. Likewise, battery capacity is stored energy, while motor output describes the rate at which propulsion can be delivered. Neither alone describes total running cost. The AION i60 value guide applies this distinction to a model offered with different propulsion choices.

Electric-drive integration: why packaging matters

GAC describes Quark's integration of electric-drive components and identifies Quark Electric Drive 2.0 with the AION i60 BEV in its 2025 release. Such integration is relevant because propulsion is more than a motor: electrical conversion, control, cooling, mechanical reduction and the surrounding connections all contribute to the complete system. A highly efficient motor does not automatically make the entire vehicle equally efficient. GAC's technical account.

The practical engineering trade-off is between compactness and the management of heat, vibration and serviceability. Bringing components together can simplify packaging, yet the installed vehicle still needs cooling capacity for sustained operation. A short acceleration demonstration does not establish performance on a long climb with passengers and luggage. Similarly, quiet driving at low speed does not answer how the cabin behaves on a motorway.

For buyers, the productive questions are specific. How does the vehicle respond to moderate acceleration used for joining traffic? Can the driver modulate speed smoothly in a car park? Does energy recuperation behave predictably when lifting off the accelerator? How clearly does the instrument display distinguish available power from charge state? Those observations connect drivetrain design to control and comfort without pretending a brief demonstration is a laboratory efficiency test.

Battery safety is a layered engineering task

GAC's 2025 sustainability report describes Magazine Battery 2.0 through three layers: intrinsic safety, active protection and passive protection. This is evidence of the manufacturer's stated design approach, rather than a guarantee that a battery can never be damaged. The report places the technology alongside other systems used in its supported transport fleet. GAC sustainability report.

A useful way to interpret that approach is to ask what happens before, during and after an abnormal condition. The cell chemistry and physical design are one part. Monitoring and control can detect conditions that demand a response. Packaging and protective structures address the physical consequences if a fault develops. The important idea is coordination: individual components need to operate as a system.

The phrase lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery identifies a chemistry. It does not, by itself, specify the battery enclosure, thermal controls, charging limits or repair procedure. Two vehicles using that chemistry can have different capacities and different integration. It is therefore sensible to keep chemistry, pack design and independently assessed whole-vehicle safety separate when comparing products.

Ownership adds another dimension. Ask which warnings require stopping, which charging behaviour is normal, and who can diagnose a persistent charging fault. Read the vehicle's instructions before using unfamiliar charging equipment. A transparent handover should explain routine charging and the relevant warning messages in language an owner can use. For model-specific assessment evidence, see the GAC safety guide.

ADiGO Intelligence: the cabin as an interface

GAC's 2026 first-quarter report identifies ADiGO Intelligence as a cloud-and-device architecture. It describes three engines concerned with multimodal perception, agent collaboration and emotional expression. These are programme descriptions; they do not establish that every overseas vehicle already offers every demonstrated service. GAC first-quarter report.

For readers interested in AI companions and robots, this is the clearest connection between familiar consumer AI and automotive technology. Both involve interpreting a request, maintaining context and providing feedback. The stakes differ in a moving vehicle, where interaction must fit around driving. A voice assistant should make an ordinary task easier without requiring a prolonged conversation or a distracting screen search.

An effective demonstration begins with tasks rather than promotional phrases. Set a destination, change the cabin temperature, adjust audio and cancel a command. Then try a slightly ambiguous instruction while the vehicle is stationary. Notice whether the system asks a useful follow-up question, performs an unintended action or simply fails silently. Clear acknowledgement matters because it tells the driver whether further attention is needed.

Connectivity deserves a separate demonstration. Some services may depend on a mobile connection, a user account or a third-party provider. Ask which functions remain available without coverage, how personal profiles are removed when the vehicle changes hands, and where privacy choices can be found. These are product questions, not an assertion that a particular GAC system has a defect. An intelligent cabin earns its place through reliable execution of useful tasks.

GAC’s X-SOUL EEA: the coordination layer

GAC's 2024 annual reporting describes its X-SOUL electronic and electrical architecture as a centralised vehicle-and-cloud arrangement, with computer clusters coordinating vehicle functions. It also distinguishes the architecture from the operating system, AI model platform and connected-data platform. That separation helps explain why software features and the hardware beneath them should not be treated as interchangeable. Official annual report.

Imagine the information path behind a simple driver request. A control must receive an input, interpret it, pass it to the appropriate subsystem and show the result. More complex assistance features depend on several streams of information arriving with the right timing. An architecture provides the structure for those interactions; the visible feature is what a driver actually experiences.

The development direction continued in 2026, when GAC presented X-SOUL Architecture 4.0 alongside other technologies. Its technology-day material describes integration across driving assistance, cockpit, powertrain, chassis, body and connectivity. The announcement belongs to the 2026 programme and should not be used to relabel earlier cars automatically. GAC Tech Day 2026.

For ownership, software support should be as understandable as the mechanical specification. Ask how update availability is communicated, whether installation requires the car to remain parked, and how changes to controls are explained. A future update can be useful, but a buying decision should rest on functions available in the delivered vehicle. A development roadmap is evidence of direction, not a substitute for an installed feature.

GAC's Smart Eco-Factory: from design to repeatable production

GAC's Smart Eco-Factory in Panyu provides a manufacturing example of how automation and digital control support vehicle production. GAC's March 2026 account reports a 53-second production interval, mixed production of up to ten models, more than 600 welding robots, AI visual inspection and traceability for key fastening points. These are the manufacturer's reported factory capabilities. GAC's Smart Eco-Factory account.

The distinction between production interval and build time is essential. A finished vehicle leaving a line every 53 seconds does not mean the entire car was manufactured in 53 seconds. Many vehicles move through different stages simultaneously. The interval concerns output rhythm; total production includes numerous operations and checks.

The connection with robotics is concrete. Repeatable motion helps a robot place a tool consistently, while inspection gives the process information about the result. Recording fastening data can make a production issue traceable to a defined operation. Scheduling then has to ensure that the right components arrive for the specific vehicle being assembled. These functions solve different problems, and their value comes from working together.

From a customer's perspective, consistent execution is the relevant benefit. A sophisticated design still depends on correct assembly, and a flexible factory needs to maintain control while producing different configurations. Factory automation supports that objective. It should be considered alongside model safety assessments and ownership evidence, rather than presented as proof that every delivered vehicle will be fault-free.

Starship Body: keep the announcement and vehicle separate

Starship Body was among the technologies introduced at GAC's 2026 technology event. GAC describes an embedded-frame and multi-ring structural approach intended to combine different body-design priorities. The group-level announcement provides useful context for its engineering direction. It does not demonstrate that every model discussed in this automotive series uses that structure. 2026 technology announcement.

This boundary matters especially when discussing safety or terrain capability. A structure's name is not a crash-test result, a towing approval or an off-road test. The relevant production vehicle needs its own specification and, where available, its own assessment. Equally, a technology announced in 2026 should not be retroactively described as the reason for AION V's 2025 safety rating.

A practical way to assess the complete system

A technology-led test drive can be organised around one realistic journey. Begin with access and setup: adjust the seat, set navigation and find the controls likely to be needed. Continue with ordinary acceleration, braking and low-speed manoeuvring. Finish by reviewing the charging or refuelling routine that follows that journey. Each step asks whether the technology reduces effort or introduces a complication.

Keep the evidence in three columns: published specification, personal observation and unanswered question. For example, a manufacturer document can establish the named drivetrain. A demonstration can establish whether a particular voice command worked that day. Neither alone establishes long-term reliability. That simple separation makes it easier to compare two cars without confusing a good showroom impression with a measured ownership result.

The same method applies to support. A modern vehicle's hardware, software and service arrangements form one ownership package. Ask who investigates a software issue, how technical updates reach workshops and what records the owner receives. The GAC after-sales guide explains that part of the decision in more detail.

Frequently asked questions

Is ADiMOTION the same as ADiGO Intelligence?

No. ADiMOTION Power concerns propulsion technologies. ADiGO Intelligence concerns the intelligent cabin. They contribute to different aspects of the vehicle and should be evaluated through different tasks.

Does a newer electronic architecture make a car autonomous?

No. Computing architecture can support vehicle functions, but an autonomy claim requires the specific feature, operating conditions and applicable approval. A capable computer does not transfer driving responsibility by itself.

Does the factory's output rate establish vehicle reliability?

It establishes a reported production capability. Reliability requires evidence about vehicles in service. Manufacturing control is relevant to quality, but output speed alone does not measure breakdown frequency or repair cost.

What is the strongest reason to consider GAC technology?

Its breadth allows propulsion, digital interaction, safety engineering and manufacturing to be considered together. The strongest purchase case appears when the chosen vehicle turns that breadth into useful, documented functions that fit the owner's routine.

Questions that decide this choice

Which GAC systems do different jobs?

ADiMOTION Power concerns electrified powertrains, ADiGO Intelligence concerns cabin interaction, and GAC’s X-SOUL EEA concerns electronic and electrical coordination. They describe different layers of a vehicle. Ask which generation is fitted to the local model and how its functions work together; a technology announcement is not an equipment list for every GAC car.

What does intelligent manufacturing add?

GAC’s Smart Eco-Factory in Panyu connects flexible production with digital monitoring, AI-assisted visual inspection and traceability of key fastening operations. Its relevance is consistent execution of a vehicle design. These are published manufacturing processes, rather than an independent measurement of the lifetime reliability of every vehicle leaving the factory.
